Sleeping Grrl

Sleeping Grrl, oil on canvas, 1996, 16 x 20 inches

Sleeping Grrl
oil on canvas, 1996, 16x20 inches

This picture was done in 1996, at university. In Lee Plotek's 3rd year painting course. Every Friday, like clockwork, at 8am we would have 3 hours to paint from the model. Her hair was punk rock red and the blanket, a sort of fake animal skin.

Splish Splash I Was Taking A Bath

Bath Time

24x48in,
oil on wood, 1998-99

From 1995-99, living on Cool Street in Verdun, I had a very small bathroom (could more appropriately be called a water closet) with no operational shower. Naturally I became very attached to my tub. The painting on the left measures 12x16 inches, and is a sketch for the larger 24x48 inch version on the right. I had to put the larger one on two separate panels as I did not have a big enough surface handy. The second picture took quite a few sessions before I was satisfied with it.
