je vais et je viens
I was lucky to be in the last class (drawing) ever taught by John Fox, in University. He was a student of Montréal painter Goodridge Roberts. John began his career painting figuratively, then took to abstraction in acrylics, through the 50's and 60's, finally returning to figuration in the late 70's / 80's. Thanks in large part to him, I'm still painting today (10 years later). He has also had a great influence on my friend, painter, Amy Huestis
This batch of drawings is from winter 1998, all except the first one were done in the car, returning home from a trip to Toronto, in the dark. The first one is of a relief sculpture from a museum I'd visited.
